Following discussions and feedback from participants the NSW GBOTA has coordinated with the Richmond GRC and NSW NCA in developing a rounded stayers program.
The series is seen as the first step in a holistic approach being undertaken by the NSW GBOTA Wentworth Park team.
With the introduction of the Greyhound Recorder Stayers Series, work has also been undertaken on other staying events at Wentworth Park, which will offer participants an opportunity to give stayers a start every week.
The three month program looks to share the opportunity to Saturday night prizemoney between all grades, as well as offering the opportunity for greyhounds to be drawn in their own grade as often as possible.
Clubs continue to work with GRNSW to provide a range of opportunities, through Special Event series, such as the newly developed Greyhound Recorder Stayers Series.
To complement this series and Group events, a combination of 5th grade, 4/5th grade and FFA events are programmed at Wentworth Park as well as two specially approved Non Grade Best 8 events.
The NSW GBOTA hopes that participants will support specially approved Best 8 events at Wentworth Park. Nomination support for these events, will allow the NSW GBOTA to make further application to GRNSW for further Best 8 events.
“Given Free For All graded events require fourth grade greyhounds to have a minimum of two Category wins and a total of five wins, drawing them regularly is difficult,” NSW GBOTA Executive Officer, Brenton Scott said.
“It is our aim, that through nomination support on March 15, the NSW GBOTA will be able to demonstrate to GRNSW that participates are comfortable in nominating for Best 8 events open to any graded greyhound.
“Should nomination support come, and approval from GRNSW follow, this will allow all Free For All events at Wentworth Park to be changed to Best 8 events,” Mr Scott said.
With the Greyhound Recorder series set to commence in April, participants are advised that both venues require a minimum of six (6) runners to conduct heats.
More than one heat can be drawn at either/both venues, should nominations support allow. An equal number of qualifiers will come from both heat venues.
First reserve for each of the 5 series will alternate between heat venues commencing at Richmond. Communication will be undertaken with participants in order to coordinate the series, where required.
The summarised staying calendar is provided to assist participants, information should however be confirmed with Club prior to nominations.
Any changes to the staying programme will be advised on the NSW GBOTA website and other media outlets where necessary.
