Wentworth Park Trust

Wentworth Park Sporting Complex Trust has its legislative base within sections 92 and 93 of the Crown Lands Act, 1989, which authorises the Minister for Lands to establish and name a reserve trust, appoint it as trustee of specified reserves, and constitute the Trust as a corporation.

The Trust is charged with the care, control and management of the reserve in the best interests of users. These may include lessees, licensees, sporting groups and the community. Management principles should also ensure the Complex operates as a viable entity. Management must also be consistent with Government policy and initiatives.

Greyhound Racing NSW

GRNSW is an independent body charged by the Greyhound Racing Act 2002 to represent, fund and control the commercial operations of the greyhound racing industry in this state.

We were created with the express purpose of enabling the greyhound racing industry to take charge of its own affairs free of government intervention except on strictly regulatory matters that stay with the Greyhound and Harness Racing Regulatory Authority (GHRRA).

The members of our Board were appointed from all sectors of the industry (GBOTA, NCA, TAB, Non-TAB, Country and Non-affiliated). The Board in turn appointed an independent Chair from outside the industry.

Greyhounds As Pets

Greyhounds race their hearts out for Wentworth Park patrons every week and when it comes time for them to hang up their racing singlets and retire they deserve to live out the rest of their lives in a loving pet home. The GBOTA supports the ongoing welfare of Greyhounds at Wentworth Park.

Greyhounds as Pets is a not for profit initiative of Greyhound Racing NSW. Our objective is to improve Greyhound welfare by providing dogs with a career change if they are not suited to, or are ready to retire from the racing industry.

Dogs are placed into the programme by caring Owners/Trainers who want the best for their dogs. Upon passing a behavioural assessment to ascertain suitability as a pet and having their vet work done, the Greyhounds are placed into a foster home for six weeks to make the adjustment from living in a racing kennel environment to life in a pet home. On completion of foster care the dogs are adopted to their new families.

Greyhounds make great pets. They are:
Quiet, affectionate and loyal.
Friendly with other dogs.
Quite lazy and only require a short daily walk.
A very clean, low maintenance breed.
Calm and laid back.

GAP always welcomes new adopters, foster carers and volunteers. If you want to become involved or you are an Owner/Trainer wanting to place a dog into the programme, please contact us.
