First conducted in 2002, granted Group status in 2003 and originally paying $15,000 to the winner, the Centrebet Magic Maiden series has each year unearthed a multitude of brilliant youngsters and its contestants have gone on to profoundly affect subsequent Group racing features.
Further increases to the winner’s purse have come since the event’s inception, with the Final now worth $25,000 to the winner thanks to the support of Centrebet.
Annually the heats attract aspirants from across the eastern seaboard, and with plenty of children’s activities the event’s Sunday afternoon heats meeting has become a real family attraction. Work continues to be undertaken with the event to offer a competitive three week series with TAB coverage now afforded to all heats, semi-finals and the Final which is conducted, in tangent with the Golden Easter Egg on Easter Saturday.
